All about the VPN for Firefox confirming release date, beta version test and special features

If you have been accessing the internet for a long time, you have probably heard of VPN. And perhaps you even know that people often use it to navigate with more security and privacy. But beyond these, there are other advantages to using this type of service.

Earlier this year (2019), several players were able to play PUBG Lite even before the game was released in Brazil. How was this possible? Simple: Players were installing a VPN on their PC and setting it up to connect to a server in Thailand. That way, access to PUBG Lite was granted to them.

In this article, we will talk about the advantages of using a VPN in conjunction with online games.

Should I use VPN playing online? Cause lag?

If you consider that VPN adds an extra layer of security to your connection, you should at least try to use one.

Using a VPN, you connect to a server in another country. Depending on the quality of your internet and the server you are connected to, there may be packet loss and increased latency in a given game. That means you can have lag.

On the other hand, if you connect to a server in the same country as the game server, you can reduce latency and have a better experience than if you weren’t using VPN. Ideally, you should perform tests by connecting to different servers for each game. VPN services often provide a ping tool to let you know which server is closest to you geographically. Depending on the quality of the connection, you may not have any impact during your games.

To perform your tests, you can look for a VPN service that has subscriptions with a free trial period.

If you still want to play even with a bit of lag, VPN will be advantageous by allowing you to access blocked games in your area, download exclusive DLCs and protect you from DDoS attacks.

Does VPN work with other games?

Yes, usually any title works under a VPN: DOTA, DOTA 2, Fortnite, Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, FIFA 17, Sims 4, Star Wars: Battlefront, Tera, among others. PUGB Lite itself, as previously mentioned, alongside Pokemon Go, is one of the most played games using VPN.

Here, once again, it is worth using the test strategy, both with the game and the server options of your VPN service.

After all, is using VPN a crime?

Using VPN itself is not a crime unless you are in a country where this service is prohibited.

What can happen is that you use VPN to unlock content that is not available in the region where you live. Depending on the company that makes this content available, it may impose some kind of punishment on the user or even cancel the account. But the most normal is that companies do not care so much about it.

If in doubt, read the terms of use of your game or the platform that provided the title (Steam, GOG, Origin, Uplay, etc.).
